For over 2000 years, choral music has been inspiring the hearts of people
throughout the world in
their concert halls and places of worship. The Lakeshore Chorale carries on that significant
tradition today and into the future. It is a diverse group of musical friends whose common
interests
are a love of singing and choral music. The ensemble is unique in its sense of community, and in
its
commitment to musical excellence and growth in a strongly supportive and welcoming
environment.
The LC has been around since 1983 sharing with local audiences affordable opportunities to hear
live
performances of wonderful, exciting music. Directed by Neil
Bubke, and
accompanied by Joseph Hauer, the Chorale has provided the singers and accompanying
instrumentalists
the opportunity to participate in performances of high-quality sacred and secular choral
works.
The Chorale consists of auditioned members from Sheboygan and the surrounding counties.
Typically,
four concerts are presented each year between September and May offering an extensive and varied
repertoire, including Palestrina, Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Brahms, Gilbert and Sullivan, Spirituals,
Folk Music, and PDQ Bach.
The Lakeshore Chorale has performed in Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Hungary, Poland and the
Czech Republic in four separate tours. Performances in Sheboygan's sister city, Esslingen,
Germany, the Abbey at Bath, England, the Karlskirche, Vienna, and the Jesuitenkirche, Innsbruck,
have been thrilling highlights for the ensemble. The Chorale has also performed in some of the
finest concert halls and churches throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest.
Membership consists of adults: high-school graduates and older. Auditions will be held by appointment for the current season. New
members are accepted on the basis of need, choral balance, vocal ability, musicianship, and
attitude.
